We ride for Green Memorial Hospital, but each cyclist has their own reason for riding. Here are some of their stories.
Ride4Ceylon 2024 was our first time participating in a noble cause. It was our give back to the people of Sri-lanka. Anjali and I were ecstatic all the way and amazed by the organization and caring. We felt right at home. There was a genuineness to every action and Ride4Ceylon exceeded our expectations. I look forward to 2025. ~ Nilani & Anjali, USA
Ride4Ceylon is an experience like no other. The huge challenge of cycling hundreds of miles is made possible by the support of teammates and the pre-planning and organisation of the wider team. And encountering wild elephants and monkeys, beautiful vistas and the adventures a long the way make it worth it, as well as being a great way to raise funds for Green Memorial Hospital which provides important healthcare services and employment to local people. ~ Ewan, Scotland
This trip has opened my eyes and filled my heart. I gave everything I’ve got both photography-wise and physically. I’m exhausted and extremely happy and proud to be part of this. Have no words to thank you for this opportunity...What you are doing for these people is unbelievable. ~ Alex (ride photographer), USA
The Manipay Green Hospital has some family ties going back over a hundred years and the ability to restore it to a higher level of service was too strong a bond to ignore. Also the challenge of cycling to Jaffna is appealing and focused the mind on getting healthy, so hopefully I may not have to visit the hospital as a patient. ~ Shamil
This was my 3rd R4C and R4C 2024 so far has been the best and the longest. The police escorts and pilot vehicle allowed us a safe and enjoyable ride...During these rides I had the opportunity to see various towns that I have not been to before. At the end of all of this, the ride is to collect funds to resurrect a historical medical hospital/school (GMH) that served the community for more than 175 years. ~ Milinda, Australia
I am thrilled to be joining this challenging ride across Sri Lanka, for the first time. My father is from Jaffna and my uncle was born in the Manipay Green Memorial Hospital so I am honored to support the rebuilding of the pediatric ward and help raise awareness of this important project. Since moving to Miami, I have grown to love cycling and can't wait to see parts of this beautiful country on my bike. ~ Sabrina, USA
Having done one, would be a combination of raising lots of money for a great cause, a love of multi-day cycling trips, and the joy of seeing a beautiful new country with lots of interesting co-cyclists. ~ Patrick
For me the opportunity to ride with like minded people to support a fantastic cause was too good to resist. At the same time I hope to see parts of a country I have heard so much about but am yet to visit. Can't wait. ~ Chris
