GMH was founded in Manipay, Sri Lanka, in 1847 by Dr. Samuel Fiske Green. Thirty years of civil war took a heavy toll on the hospital and the area.

Thanks to generous sponsorship and kind donations of funds, time and skills, the hospital is being restored and is once again serving the community.
